This week's challenge on Daring Card Makers is All Checked Out: I hope you enjoy the challenge and have a go!!!! The Challenge details are below:
For my dare you can choose any theme for the card BUT it must incorporate 'Checks', whether it be gingham paper or ribbon or squares, any thing really as long as it incorporates some kind of shape with 4 equal sides.......

This is my contribution this week with a lovely gingham ribbon.

Scrapwest Challenge - Friends

Hi girls - I'm hoping this works as I have it timed to load. The background to this is the lovely Old World Stack from DCWV. It is sprayed with H2Os Shimmering Mist in gold and stamped with a script stamp and Tim Holtz swirl. The main image in cream is metal foil, embossed, painted, and distressed. I love how it turned out. I have my usual image transfer on cream linen and a lovely poem which I found in the old book Sabrina gave me - 'Little Folk, A Magazine for the Young' dating back to 1892. The poem reads as follows:

Stand Together
Fierce and strong the wind was raving -
I seem fighting with it yet-
When, the hillside steepness braving,
Two wee lassies there I met.

How could children face such weather,
With whole trees uptorn around?
Why, they firmly clung together,
And contrived to keep their ground.

And I thought life would be smoother,
And its hours not spent in vain,
If folk stood by one another,
Sharing nobly toil and pain.

Little People, stand together,
Kindly, bravely - that's the way;-
Not alone in bleak March weather,
But through life, dears - come what may!

Isn't that lovely!

DCM - Pockets

Oh this challenge has got me frazzled. I have lots of little pockets but none suited what I wanted to do. This picture is different irl as I have coloured the page with H2Oz shimmering mist in gold and it isn't captured on the scan. The tag in the pocket reads 'Where do you hide your dreams?' I love the serene image of the lady. Bakcground is made using gesso as a resist on a sponge, then distress inks added, some rub-ons and shimmering mist.

TMTA - Asia

The Challenge over on Think Mondays - Think ATCs today is 'Asia'. I made this ATC with another image transfer, this time using gesso as the medium which is harder work that the medium I normally use, the image is not very clear but I like the finished effect on it. It is stamped with an Inkadinkadoo stamp, a chinese fortune cookie text added and some mulberry paper to the bottom. =0)

DCM - Visit to the Haberdashery Department

This weeks challenge at DCM is Haberdashery - make a card using items you would find in a haberdashery deptsuch as ribbons, buttons etc. Sewing may also be used but not as the haberdashery element, the theme was free. I used a gel transfer image onto linen with gold stitching on the side. I enjoyed this one :0)

Scrapwest Challenge - Scrapwest

This weeks challenge is the scrapwest gang - this piccie taken by Kirsty Wiseman at Crafteire in Tullamore this April. Talk about a quick jump on the grasss - and all for a piccie :0).

Scrapwest Challenge - City LO

I dont know how I forgot this one but the challenge last week was a City LO. I made this mini DLO which was piccies I took in Paris earlier this year. I distressed them a bit and then added a lot of beeswax so the images are not that clear.:0)

Think Monday - Think ATC

Faces is this weeks challenge - some gorgeous work already posted on this site. This one is done on a black background with Bronze shimmering mist sprayed on it, it doesn't really show on the scan. The image is from art-ezine and a partial hero arts stamp at the bottom. TFL.

Wednesday Stamper - Buttons

Yeah - I have achieved what I had set out to do. I have used part of the Stampington cliff floral stamp along the edge and the embossed corners are rubbadubbadoo feathers plate. The centre piece is scrap paper coloured with walnut ink, distress inks and then vaseline rubbed in places, it is then painted with acrylic paint and when dry the vaseline is rubbed off to give the peeled paint effect. This is layered onto 7 gypsies paper - which I really like and its the only sheet I have of it. As you can see the glue is still not dry under the buttons :0) Cute as a button is written onto the cork buckle. Hope you like it.

DCM & TM-TA

Woohoo - managed to get some time to combine both Daring Card Makers 'Beady Eye' and Think Monday - Think ATCs - 'Children' challenges. I stitched the beads along the side of an image transfer onto K&Co paper. Distress inks used to colour the dresses and flowers, Hero Arts Dream & Discover stamp and edged with my now over worked and dying krylon pen. Why not take a trip over and have a look at these challenge sites and have a play ;0)Go on - you know you want to......................

Wednesday Stamper - Hats

I'm very late doing this week's challenge but sometimes life gets in the way. I think there is something missing with this but I cant get it the way I imagine it to be. The face image is on a piece of laminate with gold leaf backing on the flower. This image is then placed onto an alcohol inked background which has a script stamped in white and blue. Other stamps used in the background are Stampers Anonymous and Inkadinkadoo. Background paper is DCWC Old World Stack. The gold embellie is a piece of tyvek which I love to use but this piece was rescued from the bin.Oh and a purple glitter witches hat added as the final piece. TFL. Promise to do better next time :0)
